Leadership Development in the Media
While there is plenty of bad leadership around in all industries, it is safe to say that leadership skills and strategies in the media profession are particularly underdeveloped. One of the consequences is a clear gender disparity in leadership roles in the industry. Join Alexandra Borchardt, former director of leadership programmes at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, and Eliza Anyangwe, managing editor of The Correspondent, for a discussion on leadership development in the news industry, highlighting best practices and gender-related issues. This discussion was organized in cooperation with the Heinrich Boll Stiftung, e.V.

Interview: Open Source Software for Journalism
Greg has spent more than two decades in and around journalism – as a reporter, editor, author, and content producer. As the Communications Manager at Sourcefabric, Europe’s largest developer of open-source tools for the news media, he writes about the transformative power of free-to-use software and helps deliver open-source solutions to newsrooms around the world. When not crafting blog posts or delving into the finer points of software documentation, Greg is working on his own writing, and often contributes to news websites on topics from politics to education. Before COVID-19, Greg was also a frequent visitor to South Asia, where the momo, a Tibetan dumpling, remains one of his favorite afternoon snacks. This discussion was organized in cooperation with the Czech-German Future Fund.
